Two-Child Limit Urged to Combat Climate Change

Image
The world's population increases by 1.5m each week and babies born in the UK will use more greenhouse gases during their lifetime than those born in the developing world. Two doctors, writing in the British Medical Journal, suggest that doctors should talk to their patients about climate change and encourage them to think about the consequences of having a big family. Investing in contraception would help in the fight against climate change, they argue.

The Real Morgentaler

Image
"I won't deny there's an inconsistency," Morgentaler answered. "Maybe I've deluded myself" ... He then turned to his "self-published" poetry. In The Goddess of the Golden Breast, he writes: "A suckling baby am I/Nursing at the golden breast ... /Sometimes I would like to devour the breast that is feeding me/To tear at the nipple and bite it ... /I hate and curse the breast and the mother/I smash the goddess to bits/I look at myself, helpless, small, and hungry/And cry." No wonder the guy's been in Freudian therapy "for a long time." This isn't just bad poetry. It's seriously disturbing. Its misogynism alone should disqualify Morgentaler from receiving the Order of Canada.

Hollywood's Conservative Underground

A group of politically conservative and centrist Hollywood figures organized by actor Gary Sinise and others has been meeting quietly in restaurants and private homes, forming a loose-knit network of entertainers who share common beliefs like supporting U.S. troops and traditional American values ... The group, whose members call themselves "Friends of Abe" after Abraham Lincoln, was organized as an underground movement because of fears that prominent industry titans with outspoken liberal views would retaliate, said participants. They often were reluctant to name members of the group in interviews for fear it would hurt their careers.

Britain's Big Brother Tendencies

Official ‘surveillance’ requests for details of telephone and internet records have surged to 1,400 a day, according to figures published yesterday. The annual number of ‘spying’ requests for private communications data jumped to almost 520,000 last year, compared with an average of less than 350,000 in the two previous years. Local councils have been criticised for seeking the information to tackle under age drinking, dog fouling, littering and even to find out whether a family lived in a school catchment area.

Another Order of Canada Returned

Image
The family of a dead Saskatchewan man is returning his Order of Canada to protest the recent naming of abortion-rights crusader Dr. Henry Morgentaler to the Order. "We know he would want to return this medal," said Steve Buttinger, nephew of Alphonse Gerwing, who died last year of liver cancer at age 84. "I know he didn't approve of Henry Morgentaler."

Americans Are Embracing Their Own Destruction

By reducing the population to little better than the level of cattle with only basic feelings like hunger, need for water and herding them with a prod (mother government), down goes self-reliance, self-determination and courage. Fed, watered and led to the slaughter house. How is this done? The master plans for inculcating the communist morality (communitarianism) into the American landscape has been underway for a century and that's exactly what it does to people: takes away their self-esteem, individualism, their drive for success and lumps them in with the "community." They are manipulated into believing that a Godless (secular) nation is good; what the Founding Fathers wanted! This is necessary for communism to exist and thrive.

Police State: Britain

The march of the Big Brother state under Labour was highlighted last night as it was revealed that there are now 1,043 laws that give the authorities the power to enter a home or business. Nearly half have been introduced since Labour came to power 11 years ago. They include the right to: invade your home to see if your pot plants have pests or do not have a 'plant passport' (Plant Health England Order 2005); survey your home and garden to see if your hedge is too high (Anti-Social Behaviour Act 2003) ... seize fridges without the correct energy rating (Energy Information Household Refrigerators and Freezers Regulations 2004).

Death of a Free Internet Imminent?

From my browsing (on the currently free Internet) I have discovered that the 'demise' of the free Internet is slated for 2010 in Canada, and two years later around the world. Canada is seen a good choice to implement such shameful and sinister changes, since Canadians are viewed as being laissez fair, politically uninformed and an easy target. The corporate marauders will iron out the wrinkles in Canada and then spring the new, castrated version of the Internet on the rest of the world, probably with little fanfare, except for some dire warnings about the 'evil' of the Internet (free) and the CEO's spouting about 'safety and security'. These buzzwords usually work pretty well.

The Media's Pro-Obama Bias

The Republican presidential hopeful John McCain let his frustration with the US media boil over today for its saturation coverage of Barack Obama's visit to the Middle East and Europe. McCain, upset over the extent to which his campaign has been eclipsed, launched a new video on the internet titled Obama Love, with quotes from television anchors and other journalists that he regards as evidence of bias. The launch of the video came the day after McCain protested over what he saw as another sign of bias, a rejection of a comment article on Iraq he submitted to the New York Times.

China Is Taking Over Africa

An astonishing invasion of Africa is now under way. In the greatest movement of people the world has ever seen, China is secretly working to turn the entire continent into a new colony. Reminiscent of the West's imperial push in the 18th and 19th centuries - but on a much more dramatic, determined scale - China's rulers believe Africa can become a 'satellite' state, solving its own problems of over-population and shortage of natural resources at a stroke.

No Repeat Vote on Lisbon Treaty, Say Irish

Sinn Féin says it will tell French President Nicolas Sarkozy, at a scheduled meeting in Dublin on Monday, that there can be no question of the Lisbon treaty being put to a vote again in Ireland. Sinn Féin Lisbon campaign director Padraig MacLochlainn said today he plans to tell Mr Sarkozy that a new treaty negotiation is the only way forward. Mr MacLochlainn said ... “The Lisbon treaty is finished and cannot proceed with out the ratification of all member states.”

Chinese House Church Head Forced to Live on Streets

The chairman of the Federation House Church and his wife were recently forced to live on the streets following repeated harassment and intimidation by government authorities, reported a Chinese persecution watchdog group. Pastor Bike Zhang and his wife Xie Fenglan were first forced from their home by Beijing public security bureau officials on July 6, reported China Aid Association on Friday. They found shelter at a friend’s house, but were again forced from this home when officials found out where they were living.
