Oil Profits Sky High and Unlikely to Come Down

With prices at the pumps rising, and crude oil prices seemingly breaking records everyday, millionaire executives were an easy target for politicians looking to make good with their constituents ... The common narrative is that oil companies are making record profits, and the numbers don't lie. Exxon Mobil made US$40.6 billion in profits in 2007 -- about US$1,300 of profit every second of the year. Royal Dutch Shell made a mere US$31 billion in net income in 2007.
