The Continuing Failure of the 'Safe Sex' Philosophy

Recently released infection rates in (Ottawa) show the rates of chlamydia and gonorrhea in 15-to-24-year-old females increased 89 and 88 per cent respectively from 1997 to 2007. In males the same age, chlamydia rates more than doubled and gonorrhea rates more than tripled in the same time. Dr. David Salisbury said there has also been a spike in syphilis in young gay men.

Dallaire Pleads for Action on Darfur

Retired Canadian general Romeo Dallaire blasted the U.S. and Canada on Monday for failing to rally the world and provide the political will to save people in Darfur. The reason so many people have been allowed to die in Sudan already, Dallaire told a Senate subcommittee, is simple. "There's no self-interest. Who cares about Darfurians? They're sub-Saharan Africans. They're like Rwandans."
