Liberals Could Disenfranchise Thousands in Riding

Federal Liberals will disenfranchise thousands of party members if Grit party leader Stéphane Dion appoints a candidate into Scarborough Southwest, Ont., says one potential candidate interested in running. "The party must decide, in this process, how many people they are going to disenfranchise," said Theodore Antony, one of several potential candidates seeking the Liberal nomination which will become vacant in the next election as Liberal MP Tom Wappel announced he won't run in the next election.

Dallaire Pleads for Action on Darfur

Retired Canadian general Romeo Dallaire blasted the U.S. and Canada on Monday for failing to rally the world and provide the political will to save people in Darfur. The reason so many people have been allowed to die in Sudan already, Dallaire told a Senate subcommittee, is simple. "There's no self-interest. Who cares about Darfurians? They're sub-Saharan Africans. They're like Rwandans."
