Bloc MP Quit Party Over Gay 'Marriage' Issue

Bloc Québécois MP Louise Thibault announced … she is quitting the sovereigntist party, saying she felt her views were not respected by BQ Leader Gilles Duceppe … She specifically cited last year's vote on same-sex marriage as a sore point with Mr. Duceppe. He threatened Bloc MPs with sanctions if they did not vote against reopening debate on the issue.

Dallaire Pleads for Action on Darfur

Retired Canadian general Romeo Dallaire blasted the U.S. and Canada on Monday for failing to rally the world and provide the political will to save people in Darfur. The reason so many people have been allowed to die in Sudan already, Dallaire told a Senate subcommittee, is simple. "There's no self-interest. Who cares about Darfurians? They're sub-Saharan Africans. They're like Rwandans."
