Bill Would Mandate Ultrasounds Before Abortions


The South Carolina house has given key approval to a bill that would require women seeking abortions to view an ultrasound first. The bill passed a second reading Wednesday. A third, usually formality third reading will take place later. If this bill is passed, it would be the first of its kind in the nation.

Dallaire Pleads for Action on Darfur

Retired Canadian general Romeo Dallaire blasted the U.S. and Canada on Monday for failing to rally the world and provide the political will to save people in Darfur. The reason so many people have been allowed to die in Sudan already, Dallaire told a Senate subcommittee, is simple. "There's no self-interest. Who cares about Darfurians? They're sub-Saharan Africans. They're like Rwandans."
