Countless Orders of Canada Doled Out to Left Wingers

To get one of those neat little Order of Canada pins to put proudly on one's lapel it helps if you play the game on the left wing. Not many right wingers in that club. Or tough old defensemen with high collars. Look at the list sometime and you'll see former left wing newspaper columnist Michele Landsberg has one - as does her left-wing husband Stephen Lewis. Environmental activist David Suzuki is one of the 4,000 Canadians who are members of the Order of Canada and so is social activist Shirley Douglas.
