Catholic Bishops' Approval Rating Rises

For the first time since before the clergy sex abuse scandal broke in early 2002, the percentage of Catholics who think the U.S. bishops are doing a "good job" is higher than the previous year ... 71 percent of Catholics said they strongly agreed (29 percent) or somewhat agreed (42 percent) that "the U.S. bishops are doing a good job leading the Catholic Church."

Dallaire Pleads for Action on Darfur

Retired Canadian general Romeo Dallaire blasted the U.S. and Canada on Monday for failing to rally the world and provide the political will to save people in Darfur. The reason so many people have been allowed to die in Sudan already, Dallaire told a Senate subcommittee, is simple. "There's no self-interest. Who cares about Darfurians? They're sub-Saharan Africans. They're like Rwandans."
