No Pandemic Care Slated For the Elderly

Seniors more than 85 years old won't get critical care during a flu pandemic under rules created for the province by a Hamilton doctor. The rules list who gets care and who doesn't the next time a flu pandemic hits and overwhelms Ontario's intensive care units (ICU) ... Those being refused the care include patients with:
* end-stage cancer;
* end-stage organ failure requiring transplant;
* severe trauma and burns;
* advanced untreatable neuromuscular disease;
* severe cognitive impairment;
* advanced and irreversible compromised immune systems;
* severe and irreversible nervous system conditions.
